– Corio
Generation, Green Investment Group’s new specialist offshore wind business, and
TotalEnergies, a global multi-energy company, announced on July 18 that they
sponsored the production of ‘Bag to the Green,’ ChildFund Korea’s environmental
education kit. As part
of their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts to pursue a
sustainable environment and co-prosperity with local communities, Corio and
TotalEnergies, which are jointly developing offshore wind projects in Ulsan
City and Geomundo and Maenggoldo islands in South Jeolla Province, sponsored
the production of the kit to provide an opportunity to the future generation of
children to recognize and experience the importance of recycling resources and
protecting the environment. ChildFund
Korea’s 'Bag to the Green' is an educational board game to teach children how
to sort and recycle trash by adjusting the process to elementary school
students’ level. The kit also holds environmental significance in that it is made
of upcycled materials. It consists of a reusable bag along with a game board,
playing cards, dice, game pieces, and instructions. The kit allows kids to easily
learn how to sort and recycle items that are commonly seen and used in daily
life, which can be quite difficult for them to learn, while enjoying a game with
family and friends. The board
of the 'Bag to the Green' is designed as a mat made of upcycled fabric printed with
spaces that game pieces can move on. Accordingly, it can be used as a board for
a game, and also as a mat in daily lives, letting people make better use of it.
In addition, with a focus on environmental and social values, the kit includes
a reusable bag that would help children voluntarily conduct plogging
(collecting garbage from the ground or beach) anytime, anywhere with the bag.
"We
came up with the 'Bag to the Green’ environmental education kit while seeking
ways to enable children to participate and learn independently, getting out of the
traditional way of conveying knowledge through books,” said Choi Un-jeong, Head
of ChildFund’s 2nd Seoul Region Branch. “We sincerely thank Corio
and TotalEnergies for showing deep interest in kids’ environment-related
activities and actively supporting the production of the kit.” The 'Bag
to the Green' kit, produced with the support of Corio and TotalEnergies, will
be delivered to child support institutions in Ulsan and Yeosu City and
Jindo-gun in South Jeolla Province, including community children centers, group
homes, and social welfare centers through ChildFund Korea. The kit will also be
used as recycling and upcycling educational material for Ulsan Nam-gu Community
Welfare Center’s local environmental activity program ‘Eco Mom! Happy Kids!,’ which
was also supported by Corio and TotalEnergies last month. “As developing
an offshore wind farm is a long-term project that lasts more than 30 years in one
area, we are paying attention to environmental protection activities to leave a
safer and cleaner society for children who will grow up together during that
time,” said Choi Woo-jin, Head of Corio Generation Korea, who attended the
sponsorship ceremony. “We are delighted to be able to provide children in Ulsan
and South Jeolla Province with opportunities through this sponsorship to take
easy and fun environmental education in their daily lives. We will continue
cooperating with the local community for the healthy growth of and a bright
future for children.” Meanwhile,
Corio and TotalEnergies are co-developing more than 2GW of offshore wind farms
in Ulsan and Geomundo and Maenggoldo islands in South Jeolla Province. Up to
now, the 3 floating offshore wind projects off the coast of Ulsan (project
name: Gray Whale I, II, III) and the Geomundo offshore wind project obtained
electricity business licenses from the Electricity Regulatory Commission under
the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.Photo 1) Corio and TotalEnergies support the
